Savills lists country home of the late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts for sale

The heritage-listed Devon country estate spans approximately 30 acres.

Savills has listed the country home of the late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts for sale.

Situated on the edge of Dolton, a village in Devon, UK, Halsdon House is a Grade II-listed residence — a designation recognising its architectural and historic significance — set within approximately 30 acres of private land.

Watts bought the property in 1983 and lived there for nearly four decades until his death in 2021, aged 80. He shared the house with his wife, Shirley, and their daughter, Seraphina.

In 2020, Watts joined bandmates Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood – playing air-drums from Halsdon House – for a virtual performance of You Can’t Always Get What You Want during Global Citizen's One World: Together At Home. Without a drum kit at home, he improvised with some boxes for drums and a chair as imaginary cymbals in the library – a moment that later went viral.

A country estate with equestrian facilities and extensive grounds in the heart of rural Devon, Halsdon House combines architectural grandeur with a warm and welcoming feel. The property offers a principal house of elegant proportions, a self-contained annexe, and an impressive collection of outbuildings including stabling, workshops, and traditional barns.

The home showcases period features throughout, including sash windows, high ceilings, decorative plasterwork and elegant fireplaces. The accommodation extends to over 8,500 sq ft across three floors.

The gardens were created and planted by Shirley and a gardener. The result is wild roses and plantings surrounding the house and stables including a secret garden and lily pond.

Seraphina Watts, daughter of Charlie Watts, says: “Halsdon House has been a sanctuary for our family over the years, for my parents, myself and my daughter. My parents loved being surrounded by nature and dogs, which were always abundant during their lifetimes. There were always lots of dogs around the Aga in winter and lots of tea in the gardens in summer."

Greg Crosse, Director, Savills Exeter, says: “Halsdon House is a splendid country estate nestled within the heart of the Devonshire countryside, with an elegant Grade II-listed Devon manor house and superb equestrian facilities, together wrapped within extensive private grounds. With so much on offer, it is a really exciting prospect for those looking for beauty, seclusion and practicality.”

Adrian Lim, Senior Director and Head of International Residential Sales at Savills Singapore comments: “Among UHNW buyers across Asia, there remains enduring interest in landmark country estates in the UK — particularly those with architectural pedigree and cultural provenance. Beyond lifestyle appeal, such properties are often viewed as legacy holdings, offering land, privacy and long-term wealth preservation in a mature and transparent market.”
