Specialfastigheter Sverige AB, one of the largest state owned real estate companies in Sweden, has sold two schools in the regional city of Örebro to the city’s municipality, advised exclusively by international real estate advisor Savills. The properties have been sold for approximately SEK225 million (€25 million), representing SEK13,600 per sq m (approximately €1,513 per sq m).

The schemes are used predominantly as schools for children with learning difficulties but also residential use for the students. The two properties are called Eriksberg 2, also known as Ekeskolan school, and Tofsmesen 1, which is known as Birgittaskolan school, and comprise a total leasable area of approximately 16,600 sq m.

Johan Bernstrom, head of investment at Savills Sweden, says: “This sale is an example of the alternative investment opportunities available on Sweden’s investment market. With high demand for prime assets in core locations alternative property sectors are an increasingly attractive option.”
