Andrew B. Stein has joined Savills US as managing director and leader of the firm’s US-based Hospitality Practice.
Andrew most recently served as president and CEO of Makopastreet Partners, a company providing senior debt financing for luxury and ultra-luxury hotels, mixed-use developments and infrastructure projects throughout the world, with a focus on the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Prior to forming Makopastreet Partners, Andrew was managing director in WestLB’s Investment Banking Division in New York, where he was responsible for all hospitality lending and advisory activities in the Americas. He has closed transactions for many of the top high-end hotel companies worldwide, including Mandarin Oriental, Orient Express, St. Regis, Loew’s, Auberge, GHM and others, as well as several high-end boutique hoteliers.

Before joining WestLB, Andrew spent twelve years with Chase Securities and its predecessor institutions. At Chase, he was Vice President in the Global Project Finance and Advisory Group specializing in all infrastructure projects in emerging markets worldwide. In the mid-1990s, he was based in Manila, Philippines where he served as the Joint Head of Corporate Finance for the Manila branch of Chase, which had formerly operated under Chemical Bank. In Manila, Andrew was instrumental in developing the bank’s project finance and hospitality expertise in the Philippines.
Additionally, he is Chairman and Founder of The Orphaned Starfish Foundation. Founded in 2001, an organization is dedicated to building and funding computer centers in orphanages and homes for battered and street children in Latin America. The foundation presently supports twenty programs in ten countries throughout Latin America and Central America, including Ethiopia. The State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil granted him Honorary Citizenship as the result of his charitable work in the city.
Andrew holds a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from the University of Virginia.
